Key Women’s Health Week Events
- “National Women's Check-up Day” is Monday, May 12. It is a nationwide effort, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to:
- Encourage women to visit health care professionals to receive or schedule a check-up.
- Promote regular check-ups as vital to the early detection of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, mental health illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, and other conditions.
- Take the National Women's Check-Up Day Pledge: Join thousands of American women and pledge to take the time on May 12 to schedule at least one recommended preventive health screening to take place within the next 90 days. Click here to take the pledge and to learn more about health screenings.

- “Sex Differences in Health Awareness Day,” a national observance sponsored by the Society for Women’s Health Research, is Tuesday, May 13. The observance helps draw attention to key differences in health between women and men that are overlooked or misunderstood in areas such as heart disease, cancer, autoimmune disorders, obesity and mental health.
