What a Difference an X Makes: The State of Women's Health Research
SWHR’s "What a Difference an X Makes: The State of Women’s Health Research" conference is designed to raise awareness
about the importance of sex differences in various diseases and conditions that
affect both men and women or woman disproportionately. The expert
speakers are asked to discuss the
state-of-the-science in their field, while highlighting what future research is
needed to fill gaps in knowledge. Topics have included sex differences in
the brain, pain, and cardiovascular disease, among others.
SWHR’s "X Conference" is geared towards a multidisciplinary audience of researchers
from various academic institutions, service providers (clinicians and nurses),
patient advocacy groups, federal agency employees, representatives of the
pharmaceutical industry, media reporters, and science writers, etc. The "X Conference" gives SWHR an opportunity to remind
stakeholders of the importance of understanding biological differences between
men and women that affect health and disease.
SWHR
plans to hold an "X Conference" annually.
