Resources for Journalists

SWHR is an ideal resource for journalists and writers. With several women’s health experts on staff, a board of directors with extensive medical, scientific and research backgrounds, we can meet virtually any media request.

Our immediate staff is regularly on-hand for interviews, comments, or assistance in developing health-related news stories. Our board members are also accessible to journalists and welcome inquiries of all sorts. In addition, SWHR serves as a terrific link to an array of experts within the medical, scientific and research communities.

While sex-based differences in health has become SWHR’s driving force, the organization encourages news groups to call upon our network of staff and outside experts for interview opportunities, story content, and background research involving all facets of women’s health.

• Just the Facts: Sex Differences in Women’s Health
  This invaluable resource lists facts with citations for diseases and conditions including, Autoimmune Diseases, Cardiovascular Disease, Obesity, Cancer, and more.

• Institute of Medicine Report: "Exploring the Biological Contributions to Human Health: Does Sex Matter?"
  A summary and link to the full text version of this groundbreaking report are available. This report was the first significant review of the status of sex and gender differences in biomedical research by an independent research organization and concluded that sex does matter in research.

• E-Newsletter
  Sign up for our bimonthly e-newsletter to receive research news in sex-based biology.

• Women’s Health Research News Service
  This service specializes in content and resources on the latest research findings on sex differences. The articles cover a wide variety of topics, ranging from Parkinson’s disease to skin cancer to AIDS.
