Annual Gala Dinner

For over 20 years, the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) has worked to improve the health of women through advocacy, education and research. SWHR is widely recognized as the thought leader in sex-based research and its impact on health outcomes for women and men.

Each year, SWHR hosts a gala dinner attended by more than 600 individuals including Congressional Members and the Administration, as well as clinicians and researchers from federal agencies, academia, industry, and individuals interested in the advancement of women's health.

For the past 7 years, SWHR has presented the $75,000 Society for Women’s Health Research Medtronic Prize for Scientific Contributions to Women’s Health to a woman scientist in mid-career whose work has led or will lead directly to the improvement of women's health (learn more) during the gala dinner.

*Because the dinner is fully underwritten, all funds raised are used to support SWHR’s programs. The Society for Women's Health Research is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

This year, SWHR's Annual Gala Dinner will be held on April 29, 2013 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, D.C. 

The 2013 Gala will focus for the first time on mobile health technology, imaging, advances and innovations in women’s health, and future technologies to improve patient care. Also, during the evening’s program, the eighth annual $75,000 SWHR-Medtronic Prize for Scientific Contributions will be awarded to a mid-level scientist for her research on sex differences.
