To bridge the gap between the health care industry and the women's health community, and in recognition of industry's significant contribution to the nation's health care system, the Society formed the Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) in 1991. The mission of the CAC is to engage the resources of the health care industry and its suppliers in collaboration with the Society to spearhead changes to improve women's health and research. The CAC meets annually with Society representatives and other essential decision-makers to discuss issues that affect research on women's health. Additional opportunity for dialogue on specific government relations and communication issues affecting women's health research is provided through CAC sub-committees that meet frequently throughout the year.

Corporate Advisory Council Member Benefits
Working together for our common goals, CAC members are proud to say they care about women's health and appreciate the opportunity to expand that commitment through their membership. Through this partnership, they work to communicate to the public vital women's health information and their dedication to advancing women's health through expanded research. Society CAC members find that their participation provides additional rewards, including recognition in Society publications and first opportunities to sponsor individual initiatives, meetings, or events.

The Society considers women's health to include any disease or condition that affects women solely, predominantly or differently, and works to:

  • Increase public and private funding for research on women's health;

  • Promote the appropriate inclusion of women in medical research studies and sex-based analysis of research findings; and

  • Encourage the study of sex-based biology in basic research, disease etiology, and response to medical interventions.

By becoming a member of the Society's Corporate Advisory Council (CAC), the company will:

  • Engage in regular dialogue with the Society and other CAC members through CAC sub-committees about mutual interests and concerns in the areas of government affairs and the communication of women's health research concerns to the public;

  • Assist the Society in educating leaders in women's health on policy issues through legislative briefings and receive regular updates through the Women's Health Research Coalition Hotline on issues affecting women's health research, including developments on Capitol Hill, as well as activities at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other government agencies;

  • Have access to current and cutting edge information about the latest findings in women's health through the Women's Health Research News Syndicate and proceedings from Society meetings; and

  • Partner with the Society to aid the development of your company's women's health initiatives and raise awareness about women's health issues and have the opportunity to share your company's expertise at Society-sponsored meetings and education programs.
